Message From The Club

Dear Sledder,
Well, we have finally done it – running the final races under lights was not an experience we wish to repeat, so we are now going to a 2 day show. That means the bulk of the racing will happen on Saturday, October 7, with the semi-finals and finals in all classes running on Sunday, October 8. We realize this will make it hard for some to attend the races, and we are sorry we will not see you this year, but we just can’t fit it all in in one day anymore!!

We have also teamed up with the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Racing Association (SSRA). This means that we have added traction classes for stock and improved sleds. SSRA will be there to assist in tech and will be bringing a scale to even the playing field. We hope this is mutally beneficial for Saskatchewan racers and our local contenders – only time will tell.

Due to the extra SSRA classes, some classes have changed names. Trail means no traction products; Heavy Mods must be naturally aspirated (no turbos) – please register carefully!! Also check the rules as there have been changes. It is your responsibility to know the classes that you are best suited to run in.

Tethers are now mandatory on ALL sleds – except vintage and mini sleds. If your sled did not come with a tether, you must get one installed. This is due to insurance regulations, and without insurance, we have no races.

We are doing a paid pre-registration blitz on Friday night for any that want to avoid the long line up on Saturday morning. Meet at the track from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to get your entry in, and receive your number. Registrations will also be taken over the phone up to Friday, but we will not mail your numbers to you. There will be a separate line on Saturday for those pre-registered as well.

A bonus of pre-registering this year is it will allow you to reserve a parking spot in the pits., If you want to get a good parking spot, get your paid registration in and I will assign you the next, best parking spot – therefore the quicker the cheques get here, the closer to the hot pits you will be. By the way, only vehicles with the actual machines will be allowed in the pits, your friends will have to park outside the pit area.

Also new this year, we will have a hot pit area. You will be allowed to bring only your machine and equipment directly related to racing into this area – no vehicles or quads (non racing quads). You can set up a “tent” cover over your sleds, and as well as have any tools or cooling equipment you need.

Pits will also be a paid entry to everyone. As a racer, you will receive a wrist band good for both days; anyone else must pay $5.00 for a pit pass. Please keep people in the hot pit area to a minimum.

We have decided to run the Quad class again this year. It will be again an exhibition run – but will pay out entry fees (no added money). We will have a 24 entry limit and you will only be guaranteed one run. The first 24 paid entries will each get one race on their Quad, with the winners advancing to semi finals.

Well, like always, if you have any questions, call Darcy or Shelley at 403 746 2064, email at sdyrland@look.ca or check out our new website at dtsnowriders.com We will be waiting for your calls and researching the answers. Have a great racing season – see you Turkey Weekend!
